About the Race

Come join us for a 95% single track 5% dirt road trail race alongside the beautiful Folsom Lake. Located just outside of the Sacramento, this race is primarily run on the Southside Trail. All very appealing single track, great running, and some technical sections alongside gentle rolling hills in El Dorado county. The trail parallels Folsom Lake, oak trees, lush green grass, nice scenery, views of Folsom Lake, the surrounding foothills, and the snowcapped Sierra Mountains.

This Half Marathon race starts at Falcon Crest and finishes at Folsom Point.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, but the full registration amount (minus processing fees) may be transferred to another future TCTRuns by contacting team@tctruns.com at least 24 hours before the scheduled event.
  • Runners may purchase a Troy’s California Trail Runs sport-tek technical fabric shirt during the registration process, or at the event supply permitting.  All shirts are gender-specific and come in sizes ranging from ladies XS all the way to mens XXL and youth S to XL.

Schedule

Please arrive early as we expect a full event.

1. Charter bus will be in place at Folsom Point at 630AM. This is the finish line. Runners can park their car here. There is a $12 day-use fee at the Folsom Point Parking lot, additional parking information below.

2. Bus will leave Folsom Point for Falcon Crest between 645AM – 7AM. 

3. Runners who do not want to use the bus and have a ride can be left at the Falcon Crest Parking lot directly. Parking at Falcon Crest is free, additional parking information below.

4. Registration will be at the Falcon Crest Parking lot (START) starting at 7AM. 

5. If an additional shuttle bus is needed, it will pickup and depart from Folsom Point by 730AM at the very latest. 

6. Race start will begin at 8AM at Falcon Crest.

Course Information & Maps

Toilets are available at the start/finish line. They are first-come first-served, so please be respectful of other runners waiting for and needing to use the toilets. Toilets also available at some aid stations.

The course is Point to Point.

Courses will be marked with single solid PINK color ribbons tied to clothespins, ORANGE cones, signs & gypsum. Yellow Ribbons highlight turn off up into New York Creek Aid Station.

Half Marathon (12:30pm overall cutoff, 4.5 Hour Time Limit)

  • Course Ascent: 1505 ft
  • Race Bibs: Runners will have red-numbered bibs on a white background.
  • Course Markings:
    • Follow pink ribbons.
    • Signs on 3ft wooden stakes indicating Distance & Direction Arrows. Gypsum (White powder) on the ground indicating Distance and Direction Arrows.
    • Yellow Ribbons highlight turn off up into New York Creek Aid Station

    • Falcon Crest Parking Lot Start (Mile 0.0, 8:00am, Toilet Available)
    • Water Station 1: New York Creek (Approx. Mile 2.7)
    • Aid Station 2: Planeta Way Aid Station (Approx. Mile 6.7 – Toilet Nearby, Cutoff 10:00am)
    • Aid Station 3: Browns Ravine Aid Station (Approx. Mile 10, Cutoff 11:00am)
    • Finish Line is at Folsom Point (Mile 13.1, 12:30pm noon cut off, Toilet Available).

Drop Bags may be dropped off at the start of the race and will be brought to the Finish Line.

Directions and Parking

START LINE:

  • Falcon Crest Parking Lot / Monte Vista Trailhead
    El Dorado Hills, CA 95762

    From Hwy 50 exit at El Dorado Hills Blvd: go underneath the Hwy drive on El Dorado Hills Blvd for 4 miles. At the Green Valley traffic light cross over Green Valley road onto Salmon Falls road. Drive on Salmon Falls road for 2.9 miles. Falcon Crest parking lot will be on your left. Here is a link to a map of the parking area.

    Parking: 
  • There is a $12 day-use fee for use of the Folsom Point Parking Lot, this is the finish line.
  • Parking is free in Falcon Crest parking lot and must park in the gravel lot. Please carpool. Parking is limited. Additional parking below in the Old Salmon Falls parking lot with a day-use fee, about 0.4 miles walking distance away from start/finish line. Please DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD LEADING DOWN TO THE OLD SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT. 

    No parking fee at Falcon Crest Parking Lot. Day-use $10 fee at Old Salmon Falls Parking Lot.
  • Alternate parking locations:

    • Safeway’s Marketplace at 2207 Francisco Dr, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762. Free. TOILETS and Starbucks Coffee available here. See map of parking area here.
    • Salmon Falls Parking Lot. $10 Fee. TOILETS AVAILABLE.
    • Skunk Hollow Parking Lot. $10 Fee. TOILETS AVAILABLE. On Salmon Falls Rd on the Northeast side of the Salmon Falls Bride & the American River. 10 minute walk to START 
    • Darrington Trail Parking Lot (dirt lot) directly across from the Skunk Hollow paved parking lot. $10 Fee.

FINISH LINE:

  • Here is a Google map showing the Start. Ignore the street address. This address is for someone Google chose because they are the closest street address to the parking lot. You can use the google map to get driving directions directly to the parking lot.
  • From highway 50, get off E. Bidwell exit, turn left at end of the ramp
  • Turn right on Oak Ave Parkway
  • Turn right on Blue Ravine
  • Turn left on E. Natomas
  • Turn left on Briggs Ranch Dr.
  • Turn right into park entrance
  • After entering the park, turn right at the fork and drive all the way to the end….look for restrooms on the right.
  • The entrance to the park is at the corner of East Natoma and Briggs. There is a church on the corner. Please do not bother with the church by asking for directions. They don’t actually know about our event. The Start/Finish is Folsom Point/Dyke 8 off of East Natoma in Folsom CA.
  • Parking: Ample parking at the boat ramp. Cost: $12.00 for day use.
