Course Information
All races follow PINK RIBBONS for an out-and-back course heading eastward from the starting line at Mosquito Road. For each distance, the path goes up a steady 3% grade to the turnaround point, and the second half of the race is downhill all the way to the finish.
The 5K, 10K, and 15K courses are run entirely on a paved bike path. The pavement ends at about 5.6 miles into the half marathon course, and the remainder of the distance to the turnaround point is run on a dirt and gravel path.
There are several road crossings along the course. Most are private roads or smaller feeder roads with relatively little traffic, but each crossing will be marked with yellow ribbons to alert runners of a crossing with vehicular traffic.
Runners should use extreme caution and follow our volunteers’ instructions when crossing the busier Carson Road (near start/finish) and Jacquier Road (about 2 miles into the race). Volunteers will make every attempt to stop vehicular traffic prior to your arrival, but if they tell you to STOP please do so until they indicate it is safe for you to cross.
5K Course (341ft Ascent)
The 5K course turns around right before Centennial Lane, and will be clearly marked with a sign and grouping of GREEN RIBBONS.
10K Course (651ft Ascent)
The 10K course turns around shortly before Parkway Drive, not long after crossing Highway 50 on the foot bridge, and will be clearly marked with a sign and grouping of BLUE RIBBONS.
15K Course (659ft Ascent)
The 15K course turns around shortly after passing Los Trampas Drive, and will be clearly marked with a sign and grouping of ORANGE RIBBONS.
Half Marathon (1,237ft Ascent, 4 Hr Overall Cutoff)
The pavement ends at Halcon Road, but the half marathon course continues and turns around at the very end of the trail, where a chain-link fence separates you from Highway 50.
IMPORTANT: There will be a grouping of RED RIBBONS on the chain link fence at the end of the trail. COUNT THEM, and provide the number of red ribbons on the fence to finish line personnel to receive a qualifying race time.
Half Marathon Cut Off Times:
Mile 7 – 10:00am
Mile 10 – 11:00am
Finish – 12:00noon (4 hour overall cutoff)
The course is well-marked with signs at every intersection and chalk lines on the ground in important locations. Mile marker signs are posted for all distances, and a halfway sign is posted for the half marathon.
Elevation Profile
The combined elevation profile for all four races is shown below. (Click image for larger view.)

- Mile 1.5 (5K turnaround point)
- Mile 3.1 (10K turnaround point)
- Mile 6
- Mile 7.1
- Mile 10
