Kirkwood Thunder Mountain Trail Challenge

ALERT: TAMARACK FIRE - RACE CANCELLED (UPDATED 07/21/21 AT 2:30 PM)
Due to the continued spread and zero containment of the nearby Tamarack Fire, we have cancelled this event in an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our runners, volunteers and staff. We will be in contact with registered runners shortly regarding all registration credit and rollover options. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

(07/20/21 AT 09:45 AM)
Kirkwood officials have advised us that air quality at Kirkwood Mountain Resort remains good, with the wind continuing to blow smoke north and eastward, away from the Kirkwood Mountain Resort and our race course. We are very hopeful to have this High Sierra incredible event as scheduled.

(07/19/21 AT 07:15 AM)
A dry-lightning induced wildfire that began on July 4th about 30 miles east of the Kirkwood Resort has grown significantly over the past two days and is currently zero percent contained. Current and forecasted wind conditions have been carrying the fire and smoke north and eastward, away from the Kirkwood Mountain Resort, and air quality conditions at Kirkwood where the race is scheduled to take place have remained relatively clear.

Staff has spent the past two days marking the course and preparing it for your enjoyment come race day. However, the health and safety of runners, volunteers, and staff is our highest priority. We will continue to monitor conditions and issue updates as they become available. TCT Runs staff will be in contact via e-mail with registered runners regarding the status of the race, and will make a final decision by Thursday 07/22 at 9:00 AM regarding any possible postponement or cancellation of the race should it become necessary.
