    This course is run in the beautiful Sierras. The course starts/finishes at the East end of the Strawberry Lodge. The 13 mile course will simply blow your mind. This race will become one of your favorites for sure. The 13 miler will give you an awesome thrill. Running on these single track trails, I have sincerely loved them. I have worked on these trails for years. The course is very challenging, incredible High Sierra country, with breathtaking views, Cody Lake, and several creek crossings over the same creek.

    Join us for over 12,000 feet of elevation gain on a 100K, 50 mile, or 50K adventure that will take you through mystical oak forests, endless meadows, and steep climbs in the Santa Clara Valley, Sierra Azul Open Space Preserve, and the Santa Cruz Mountains.

    Be careful what you wish for, these Ultra Races are not for the faint of heart.

    Start and finish of this first race in our Summer in the Sierras Series is at the wonderful Strawberry Lodge. All of the courses except for the 5K are primarily single track. You will love these courses in our beautiful Sierra—great country, views, lakes, creeks, rivers, air quality, plus high elevation and very challenging, breathtaking courses.

  • Rancho Trail Run

    Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve, 4289 Casa Loma Rd, Morgan Hill, CA 95037, USA

    Distances: 50K, 26M, 13M, 15K, 10K, 5K, 1M  

    This event is tucked away in the incredibly beautiful foothills of the South Bay Area, starting in the Rancho Cañada del Oro Open Space Preserve. The area is comprised of two hidden-gem parks that combined give you double the pleasure.

    If you’re looking for easy and flat then move on. But the climbs are well worth it: At the top is a panoramic view of the entire Bay Area southward, plus the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

    These two parks will give you a mix of singletrack (40%) and some very enjoyable fire roads (60%) to play on. There are lots of beautiful old oak trees to enjoy but lots of exposure, so come prepared.

  • Kirkwood's Thunder Mountain Trail Challenge

    This course is extremely challenging. The course starts at the Kirkwood Lodge and runs on the pavement for around 0.2 miles leading to a single-track trail, then from there it is all singletrack going up. If you like the High Sierra and are into an incredible challenge, please come and play on Thunder Mountain. You will absolutely love this new event.

  • Kirkwood Mountain Ultra Challenge

    This August, join in on an ultra running adventure across 50K, 50M, 100K, and 100M of High Sierra Trails from the Kirkwood Valley Resort to the Strawberry Lodge in Kyburz, CA. Rising above the shore of Lake Tahoe, these ultra races follow trails that are rarely traveled by the weekender and are what many would describe as diamonds in the rough.

    20 years in the making, Troy’s California Trail Runs presents the Kirkwood Ultra Challenge. Join us for over 20,000 feet of altitude gain nestled within the peaks of the High Sierra and among the wilderness of the El Dorado forests.

    These races are comparable to the Western States 100 and many others of that caliber. Be ready and see you in August!

    Distances: 5K, 10K, 8 Miler, 10 Miler, Half Marathon
    All courses are primarily beautiful singletrack trail. This new park is loaded with rolling hills, oak trees, lush grass and awesome scenery. I am very impressed with the trails implemented. There are plenty of ups and downs for all of these courses.

  • Echo Summit Trail Run Challenge

    Distances: 50K, Trail Marathon, 20 Miler, Half Marathon, 10 Miler, 10K, 5K

    Come join us at Adventure Mountain Snow Park as fall is setting in in the Sierras for an adventure to Echo Summit. While some sections are technical and tough, with very steep, rocky terrain, all sections are very runnable. This is an extremely rewarding and challenging course with 75% single track, 20% dirt road, and 5% pavement. This event held under special use permits with the El Dorado National Forest.

  • California Gold Rush Run

    Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, 310 Back St, Coloma, CA 95613, USA

    DISTANCES: 5K, 10K, 15K, Half Marathon

    This event is run entirely inside the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, set in the beautiful foothills of Coloma along the south fork of the American River. This is the site at which gold was discovered in 1848, igniting the gold rush and leading to California’s quick rise to statehood.

    All of the courses are a mix of very appealing singletrack dirt trails and a few paved areas. The are some moderately technical ascents and descents with a lot of switchbacks. There are also some sections of rolling hills and other places where the course is completely flat. With the addition of scenic views and a variety of wildlife, there is plenty to make this run very enjoyable and interesting.

    Beginning at Calero County Park, this trail run has everything! Experience awesome single track, great hills, and dirt paths. It is a challenging, fantastic trainer for Western States that includes oak trees, exposure, good heat training, and panoramic vistas.
