About the Race

Beginning at Calero County Park, this trail run has everything! Experience awesome single track, great hills, and dirt paths. The 50K is a challenging, fantastic trainer for Western States that includes oak trees, exposure, good heat training, and panoramic vistas.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable, but the full registration amount (minus processing fees) may be transferred to another future TCT Run by contacting team@tctruns.com at least 24 hours before the scheduled event.
  • Runners may purchase a Troy’s California Trail Runs sport-tek technical fabric shirt during the registration process, or at the event supply permitting.  All shirts are gender-specific and come in sizes ranging from ladies XS all the way to mens XXL.

  • Race Bibs: Runners will have black-numbered bibs on a white background.

    • Follow green ribbons for a 2.9 mile clockwise loop to 5K FINISH.

10K

  • Course Ascent: 686 feet
  • Race Bibs: Runners will have black-numbered bibs on a white background.
  • Course Markings:
    • Follow green ribbons for a 2.9 mile clockwise loop.
    • Now follow green ribbons for a 2.9 mile counterclockwise loop (reverse of previous) to 10K FINISH.
  • Aid/Water Available:
    • Mile 0.0 – Calero Start/Finish Line Aid Station (before race)
    • Mile 2.9 – Calero Start/Finish Line Aid Station (after 1st loop, before 2nd)

15K

  • Course Ascent: 1,673 feet.
  • Race Bibs: Runners will have red-numbered bibs on a white background.
  • Course Markings:
    • Follow orange ribbons for 4.9 miles to the Rancho Canada del Oro Aid Station.
    • Now follow pink ribbons for 3.8 miles back to Calero Start/Finish Aid Station to 15K FINISH.

Half Marathon (4.5 Hour Overall Cutoff)

  • Course Ascent: 2,474 feet.
  • Race Bibs: Runners will have red-numbered bibs on a white background.
  • Course Markings:
    • Follow orange ribbons for 4.9 miles to the Rancho Canada del Oro Aid Station.
    • Now follow blue ribbons for a 4.2 mile clockwise loop returning to the Rancho Canada del Oro Aid Station.
    • Finally follow pink ribbons for 3.8 miles to return to Calero Start/Finish Aid Station and HALF MARATHON FINISH.

    • Finally follow green ribbons for 2.9 miles on a reversed counterclockwise loop to 50K FINISH.

Directions and Parking

Calero Park is located off McKean Road. Traveling to the park, from central San Jose, take Almaden Expressway south. Turn right onto Harry Road, then left onto McKean Road. From 101, exit on Bailey Avenue and head west until you reach McKean Road. Turn left onto McKean Road. Calero Park entrance and parking lot are on the right side 0.5 mile.

Parking is Free, Carpooling is encouraged. Park at Calero Parking Lot on McKean Road.

Toilets

Multiple toilets are available at the Calero Park Aid Station and race Start/Finish line.

There is ONE commode available at the Rancho Canada del Oro Aid Station. This toilet is first-come first-served, so please be respectful of other runners and park visitors waiting for and needing to use the toilet at the Rancho Canada del Oro Aid Station.

Support Crews

Please drive the speed limit and be respectful of the people living on Casa Loma Road. Please check the course maps to follow your runner. Crews may follow their runners by driving to Rancho Cañada del Oro Aid Station located at Rancho Cañada del Oro’s parking lot.

Directions from Calero Park to Rancho Cañada del Oro Aid Station:

  1. Turn right onto McKean Rd.
  2. Drive approximately one mile on McKean Rd.
  3. Turn right onto Casa Loma Road.
  4. Drive approximately one mile on Casa Loma Road. Rancho Cañada del Oro parking lot will be on your left.
  5. The Aid Station is located next to the bathroom.
  6. Please only park in Rancho Cañada del Oro paved parking lot if there is plenty of parking available.
  7. A overflow parking lot is available 1/4 mile past the paved parking lot on the left. Please park there and walk back to the Aid Station.

To return to the Start/Finish location Calero Park:

  1. Drive on Casa Loma Road approximately one mile.
  2. Turn left onto McKean Rd.
  3. Drive approximately one mile on Mckean Rd.
  4. Turn left into Calero Park returning to the Start/Finish location.

Drop Bags
Drop bags may be left at the start/finish for the 50K. We will have two drop bag locations for runners: (a) The Start/Finish. (b) Aid Station located at the Rancho Cañada del Oro parking lot.
