About the Race

95% single track, 5% dirt road. The course is primarily run on the South Side Trail. All very appealing single track, great running, some technical sections. Gentle rolling hills in El Dorado Hills, trail parallels Folsom Lake, oak trees, lush green grass, nice scenery, views of Folsom Lake, surrounding foothills, and some views of the Sierras.

The race is held rain or shine. There is a 9 hour time limit.

The legendary founder of the Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run and founder of the sport of 100 mile trail running, Gordy Ainsleigh, will be autographing runners bibs and running right along with everyone.


Registration fees are as follows:

Active military receive a 15% discount. Entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled. Pre-registered runners may purchase a T-shirt for an additional $20.00 if they register by Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

Online registration is available through the morning of the race.

Note: You can pick up your race packet on race day. But better yet, you can pick up your packet on the day before race day from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Please remember to check-in on race day so we can know who is on the course. You can also register for the run at this time – charge applied – $10. Avoid the crowds. Remember, check in on race day. Course Information

The Starting line for the race will be the middle of the parking lot due to the Sweet Water Trail being a very narrow single track trail. This will allow the pack to thin out a little bit before entering onto the Sweet Water Trail.

Regular Course route if normal conditions in creeks.

50K Out and back. PINK RIBBONS, Turnaround at the Browns Ravine aid station. Five aid stations along the course, two water stops. There is a portapottie within 100 yards WEST of the aid station.

22 miler Out and back. PINK RIBBONS, Turnaround at the Fitch Way aid station. Three aid stations, two water stops along the course.

18 miler Out and back. PINK RIBBONS, one aid station at mile four and another at mile 14. A Water stop at turnaround at mile 9. Turnaround location New York Creek before crossing bridge at water stop.

13.1 miler 13 milers follow PINK RIBBONS. You will hit the aid station twice in the Old Salmon Falls parking lot going out mile 4 and returning mile 9 to the finish. At mile 6, you will turn Left off of the Browns Ravine Trail onto the Monta Vista Trail. Run a one mile counterclockwise Loop. Now Follow RED RIBBONS for one mile. Return to the Browns Ravine Trail and Monta Vista Trail intersection turning Right at mile 7 back onto the Browns Ravine Trail returning to the Finish following PINK RIBBONS.

8 miler Out and back. PINK RIBBONS, one aid station. Turnaround at the Old Salmon Falls aid station one.

10K Out and back. Blue ribbons, Turnaround at the Sweet Water aid station located at the end of the trail. One aid station. All distances except the 5K runners will be directed a slight course change to the 10K aid station. This will allow all runners the opportunity to utilize this aid station which is on course anyway. The 10K runners are the only runners that must check in at this aid station to have their bib numbers recorded. Then return to the finish a OUT AND BACK course. After the first aid station the 10K aid station turnaround, the runners continuing 50K, 22mi, 18mi, 13mi, and 8mi runners, there is a creek crossing – WET FEET. Please use caution when crossing the Sweet Water creek. The rocks are very slippery.

5K Out and back. Green ribbons/A sign will be posted along the trail where to turnaround at mile 1.5.

Runners please bring chairs. No seating available. We will provide some chairs. Note: Be alert to an alternate route depending on potentially dangerous conditions due to rain. This will impact the 50K, 22mi, 18mi, 13mi, and 8mi runners.

The alternate route will not cross the creek if there is an unsafe creek level as determined by the race director. He will reroute the runners around the creek. These runners will run over to the 10K aid station, turn Right, run up Salmon Falls Rd for a few hundred yards, then turn Right back onto the trail. Runners please use extreme caution on Salmon Falls Rd. Runners will use this course detour running out and back if implemented.

The following info only pertains to the 50K and 22 mile runners. Info alerting the runners where to turn into the Fitch Way aid station.

YELLOW RIBBONS will be on the LEFT side of the trail where to turn and follow into the Fitch Way aid station. This aid station is the turn around for the 22 milers. Attention: At the 22 milers turnaround at the Fitch Way aid station, the 50K runners continue on to the Browns Ravine aid station. The 50K runners will return to the Fitch Way aid station so there will be YELLOW RIBBONS alerting them where to turn into the aid station for the 2nd time. A sign will also be POSTED *ndash; FITCH WAY AID STATION.

Drop Bags

You can leave your drop-bag at the START/FINISH which we will deliver to the second or third aid station and will be returned to you at the START/FINISH line.

Drop bags will be located at the Fitch Way aid station for the 50K and 22 mile runners. 50K runners will pass through the Fitch Way aid station twice. Turnaround for the 22 milers. Drop bags will be picked up the morning of the race at the start delivered to the Fitch Way aid station.

50K and 22 milers, when you are done with the Fitch Way aid station, we will return your drop bags to the START/FINISH ASAP.

Directions and Parking

Directions to Salmon Falls parking lot. Carpooling is encouraged. Please arrive early as we will have a large crowd to handle.

From Hwy 50, get off E. El Dorado Hills Blvd North/East towards Folsom Lake, Green Valley Road. Once you are on El Dorado Hills Blvd, stay on El Dorado Hills Blvd for 4.1 miles until crossing over Green Valley Rd onto Salmon Falls drive, after 5.6 miles turn left into the SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT. Turn in is just before Salmon Falls bridge.

Salmon Falls Lot is before Salmon Falls bridge 500 yards on the left coming from Green Valley Road. You drive to the very back of the parking lot for the Start/Finish. No street address is available.

180 Salmon Falls Rd in El Dorado Hills CA is this PRIVATE RESIDENCE South West 500 yards before the Salmon Falls parking lot entrance. This address is on the LEFT same side as the entrance to the Salmon Falls Parking lot when driving North East on Salmon Falls Rd coming from Green Valley Rd in El Dorado Hills.

$10 per vehicle SELF REGISTRATION for ALL parking please carpool. Parking availability at the SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT 129 cars. We will have people directing you.

NO parking is allowed on the main road entering into the parking lot.
Overflow free parking, if needed, is outside the SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT. Beyond the entrance to the SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT before the Salmon Falls bridge there is a dirt area to park.
Additional parking $10, if needed. After crossing over the Salmon Falls bridge there is parking on the right in the Skunk Hollow parking lot & on left at the Darrington Trail head. You will have to walk across the bridge to the SALMON FALLS PARKING LOT please. Use CAUTION crossing & walking on Salmon Falls road.
Entrance to park marked with Pink Ribbons.
Start/Finish area at the Salmon Falls parking lot far end.
All of the bathrooms are available at the start/finish.

Falcon Crest Parking Lot is a great carpooling location.
Another GREAT CARPOOLING place to meet is the Safeway in El Dorado Hills on Green Valley & Francisco Dr. The Safeway will have a lighted parking lot, bathrooms & a Starbucks inside.
ATTENTION – BATHROOMS in SAFEWAY is a very important consideration.
Safeway is 6 miles away from the start – 10 minute drive time.

Support Crews

Crews/Teams will be allowed to drive to our 2nd aid station located at Fitch Way.

Twice as the runners go OUT and then come BACK to the finish. Driving directions to the Fitch Way aid station. The crews/team members will want to drive to this aid station after the FIRST aid station BROWNS RAVINE.

Attention: coming back in sequence would be after the crews/teams leave the Old Salmon Falls aid station then they would see there runner on the way back at the Fitch Way aid station.

Driving directions from the first aid station Browns Ravine. Turn Left onto Green Valley Road. Turn Left onto Salmon Falls drive at the traffic light. Take your second Left onto Lakehills Drive. Drive passed the 4 way stop sign continue on Lakehills Dr then turn Left into Fitch Way. Please park respectfully in the neighborhood. Please also remember your directions when returning to this aid station later in the race.

Directions to the Old Salmon Falls aid station. Get back to Salmon Falls Road. Turn Left onto Salmon Falls Road follow previous directions. Attention as the runners near aid station 2/Fitch Way, the runners along the trail are following PINK RIBBONS then YELLOW RIBBONS. Note: the runners if they would like to go into aid station 2 at Fitch Way, please follow the YELLOW RIBBONS into the aid station.
